Kristin and Meghan Take on Europe (Holland) – Part Two – Hamilton Traveling Photographer

This blog post is a long time in the making!  If you want to read up on our First Stop- Iceland then head to this post here!  There should be a ton more pictures, but in my defence I took my vacation in Holland just taking it all in.

This was my first time in the motherland.  My grandparents immigrated from Holland to Canada and my parents were born in Canada but our heritage was still a large part of our every day life and in some ways going to Holland was an extension of our home.  It was so amazing to see the land where my grandparents called home up until they were teenagers.  It was a feeling I couldn’t even describe.

We still have relatives in Holland, my dad’s cousins, and they graciously hosted us for a couple of the days while we were there.  Even though our extended family is split by an ocean it was incredible to see how genetics are so strong! I could have sworn one of my dads cousins was actually his brother- mannerisms and looks- so much the same! We were so blessed by their amazing hospitality and some of the highlights were eating cake for breakfast at Novo , visiting the cheese shop and the tour of Groningen.

After a few days with family, they dropped us off at the train and Meghan and I zipped into Amsterdam for the last few days.  We stayed at a super cool Airbnb with the most sketchiest elevators and the steepest stairs I have ever climbed.   Our first day in the city we visited The Rijks Museum which I have no words for.  Meghan and I are made for traveling together as we each did our own thing in the museum and then every now and then we’d text each other and meet up and then venture into the next exhibit.

We managed to find a market in Amsterdam and tried ALL THE DUTCH things, lol! We had stroop wafles– that were the best stroop waffles in the world, we had poffertjes, Meghan had fish, and we bought lots of droppies! All in all it was such an incredible trip and I cannot wait to go again some day! We had a bit of trouble flying out from Amsterdam as my luggage was quite overweight from all the cheese, beerenburger and droppies! But I managed to sneak some into my carry on and in Meghan’s carry on and we made it through!

Meghan and I have no travel plans in the works- but we are hoping to get away again sometime-maybe next Spring?! Any suggestions of where to head next?

Trying new things can be daunting sometimes! I often get in my head and freeze rather than just doing something.

But here’s to trying new things and having fun doing it!

And if anyone has tips or tricks for BTS footage, let me know! I’m a great student!😂

Can I tell you a story?!

When I bought my very first camera about 16 years ago, I never dreamed that decision would have impacted my life in so many ways.

From a simple decision to wanting to document my daughter growing up, morphed into preserving all my children in their early years and now being able to serve so many other families.

If you are new here, I’m Kristin 🤗 Time passes incredibly quickly and I believe photos help tell your story of what life is like right in the here and now.

Life can change in an instant. I’ve found that out through hard experiences and through joyful ones.

Photography has the power of telling stories years after the moment occurred. I’m so incredibly grateful I have thousands of those memories of my own family. 💗

Being able to serve others is something that brings me so much joy!🙏

Is it time for you to create those beautiful memories with your family? Don’t wait!!

Comment below if you want to say YES to telling your family story this season!💗
Can I share something with you?! Actually, I’ve shared it before but it’s worth sharing again. 😉

Growth after life altering events is possible! I can go on about how this applies in so many ways but I want to share how it was made possible in my photography business.

After moving half way across the country, I wasn’t sure if my business had a future. I had to find all new clients, I had to learn an entirely new landscape (hello wind and dry prairie grass!) and I had to build from the ground up.

I decided to do what I’ve always done, just share and to keep doing what I love- taking photos! ♥️

When I received my first wedding inquiry only weeks after living in Alberta- I was shocked (and incredibly humbled!) it gave me hope and joy to know that can make this work!

Fast forward two and a half years later, I’m so so incredibly grateful to the many of you who have allowed me to photograph some of the most important milestones of your lives! It is not lost on me how you all have helped me to continue to do what I love! 🙌

So here’s to all that is to come! If you are looking for a joy filled photographer who finds beauty in the everyday, that’s me!💗

Follow along to see where the journey takes me!🌱🌸
