My blog list is long, I know, but Sharon and Jared’s engagement session in Georgia deserved to be featured! This past February I escaped the frigid west and traded it for the warmth and sunshine in southern Georgia. I thoroughly enjoyed this change! In our consult for their wedding day, Sharon said they’d likely not need an engagement session unless I wanted to travel south. Since the opportunity presented itself, I had to answer the call!
One big reason that I’m a firm believer in engagement sessions, is that it allows both my couples to get to know me but also it allows for me to get to know them! It’s always hard to show up on wedding days without having any prior context of each other and then just photograph such an important day! Engagement session help to build trust. It allows my couples to get comfortable in front of the camera. I always call it a trial run before the wedding day.
We met at Massee Lane Gardens just outside of Fort Valley to start our session together. Sharon and Jared picked this beautiful location knowing that the Camellia’s would be in full bloom in southern Georgia. And these gorgeous blooms did not disappoint! We wandered the gardens getting some beautiful photos of the two of them. There were simply so many places we could have gone but we ran out of time!
On our way to hunt that last setting of the sun we spent a bit of time in the downtown area of Fort Valley. I simply love southern American downtowns! From there we traveled to a well known local spot, but just to use their parking lot! We hopped over the road and caught that amazing last light of the evening!
Golden hour photos are filled with incredible beauty. Not only because of the light, but by this time, most of my couples are completely relaxed in front of the camera. This is where authenticity shines forth. I aim for creating comfort and ease for my couples in front of my camera.
