Last month my brother Greg married his best friend and love of his life, Karen. The day couldn’t have been better and they both looked amazing! The months, weeks, days and even evening before the wedding was filled with a lot of preparation and a lot of stories. Great stories that will be told for years to come! Their wedding fell on the first Saturday in October and it was probably the coldest fall day up until then. Despite the cold, we had rain, we had sun, we had hail and we had a great time. The October wedding took place at Saddle Rock Farm in Freelton, ON, in a really cool barn and property. The ceremony had originally been planned to take place outside in the meadow but the cold weather kept us in the barn and it couldn’t have been more beautiful. As Greg and Karen were standing up in front of their family and friends, a heavenly light shone through the barn boards lighting them in such a beautiful warm love.
Their wedding day was filled with so much laughter, tears, love and the testament of how God has worked in their lives. They both poured their everything into this day. Greg’s creativeness and artistic talents were displayed in the invitations, coaster favours, the centerpieces, and the doorway arch. Karen’s organization and calm demeanor made this day flow so smoothly and without a hitch.
This was my second wedding that I photographed by myself and so far I always have a few favourite moments throughout the day. I have the special privilege of being a part of something so amazing and so beautiful and I love that I am there photographing those moments. My favourite memory of that day was hearing Karen say, “I’m getting married today!” This is the second wedding I’ve been at and the second time I’ve heard these same words. There are so simple and yet so wraps up everything that had been building until that very moment. And I love it. It gets me every time.
