It’s hard to believe that almost four months have gone by since Kelly & Luke’s summer wedding day in Caledon! Time keeps moving by quickly! But I love being able to look back and remember such a beautiful day like theirs. This hot August day started off with a lot of rain but the clouds parted and the puddles dried and we were treated to the most glorious, hot day!
One theme that kept playing back for me throughout the day, the importance of loved ones and the love that they all share. From the close friends and family they had surround them in their wedding party, to all the kids that were there, to all the family and to all the friends, Kelly and Luke made everyone feel welcome and completely part of their day. The bride and groom were also the most easy going people! They enjoyed their day despite hiccups and things that they couldn’t control, the day wasn’t about those things, it was about celebrating the love that they shared. Their approach and the way they soaked up the day together was such joy to witness!
Kelly and Luke share an incredible bond and that is being able to really talk with one another. They shared their engagement story with me and how they met and they met in Luke’s store and how their first date at Starbucks ran until they were kicked out at closing time! Here’s Kelly’s story on their engagement,
We talked virtually every day from that first date forward and grew closer and closer to one another day by day and date after date. We both worked for our own businesses and did not have much time to always go out so we would talk virtually all day everyday whilst at work on our headphones. Luke proposed to me by taking me out for my birthday to our favourite restaurant SnakMarkt in Newmarket. It was October and happened to start to be our first snowfall as we drove to the restaurant. Luke asked me to go down by the waterfall/ Dam so we could take some nice pictures together. We trekked down the snowy stairs as he held an umbrella over my head. We took some pictures and I could notice something was up as Luke kept looking towards the restaurant and back at me. I asked to go inside to the restaurant and he said hold on and lets get another picture. Only then did our song ” Ed Sheeran, Shape of You ” start playing over the loud speaker. Luke told me how much he loved me and said he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. He got down on one knee in the snow and presented the ring to me. I said YES!
We were able to enjoy the beautiful Royal Ambassador Event centre and it did not disappoint! I was able to second shoot at that venue earlier this year and I was so excited to be able to go back and shoot my own wedding there. The views and the grounds are just so beautiful!
