We have been in our new home in the Hamilton area for almost three months now. Its amazing how time passes quickly and slowly all at the same time. About 10 years ago we lived in the Ancaster area but really didn’t explore the area too much. Now that those years have passed and we are once again in the area and have three kids, we are looking forward to exploring all that this area has to offer.
Our family really, really enjoys nature. We love hiking, fishing and just being outside. Winter has made it a bit more difficult to get out but usually our Sunday afternoons are spent this way. On a warmish Sunday afternoon in January we headed to the Dundas Valley Conservation Area to get some fresh air but also to enjoy nature. I had been here a couple of years earlier for a family session and always wanted to get back with my family. The kids tried really hard to get some birds to eat seed out of their hands but no luck this time!
The loop was a bit longer than we had expected but the kids are getting to such great ages in that even our youngest could do almost the whole trail by herself. We also have a Kelty Kids backpack that we purchased back when our oldest daughter was little and it has been a lifesaver for those longer hikes when the kids needs a break for their legs.
We can’t wait to the weather to warm up even more so we can explore more of the trails in the Hamilton and Haldimand areas. What are your favourite trails? We also are hoping to visit all of the waterfalls in the Hamilton area as they have so many! We already visited Tiffany Falls when it was frozen solid and it was so amazing to see. We live in such a beautiful province and we can’t wait to explore more!
